This guide goes over adding multiple rules to a rule group using a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file.

Please Note: We recommend only adding up to 200 rules per rule group. You may want to look into using suppression files to reject leads based on certain criteria instead if you have more than 200 rules.

Create your CSV

Skip this if you already have a CSV file

  1. Open up a Google sheet or spreadsheet software

  2. Add the field values to column A, line by line

  3. Export the file as a CSV file, so that you have backup of your rules

Create Your Rule Group

  1. In the rule group section (Validation > Rule groups) select the field you want to set the rule group on

  2. Select the operator you'd like to check the field value with, such as equal to (==).

  3. Open the CSV file. Then, copy and paste these values from the CSV into the 'value' field in Databowl. Ensure each rule is separated by either a comma or a line break.

  4. Click 'Yes, I want to create multiple rules'

  5. Wait a few seconds for the rules to be added in. You may need to refresh your page if you have imported a bulk amount of rules

Add to a campaign

  1. Add the rule group to a campaign by selecting the rule group from this campaign section.

  2. Select 'Match' from Match Type and 'Rejected' for the lead status. You may wish to change this depending on what you would like to achieve.

Test

Submit a test lead through your campaign and check to see if the rule group does what you need it to.

Note, the created lead ID will be unique per individual test lead submission. Click on the lead ID link to be redirected to your lead or search the lead ID within the search bar at the top left of Databowl.

Great, we can now see the lead has been rejected as it has matched the rule group we have added to the campaign! This confirms it works correctly.

You should now be equipped with the knowledge to deal with any of your campaign custom rule groups 🤓
